North GA - Shannon Bradburn, a seasoned veteran in the field of Environmental Health, has been named the recipient of the prestigious 2024 Environmental Health Specialist All-Star Award for the North Georgia Health District. The Environmental Health Office of the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) recently created this award to recognize an outstanding Environmental Health Specialist in each of the 18 public health districts in Georgia. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Shannon's unwavering dedication and unparalleled expertise have set him apart as a leader in his field in the North Georgia Health District.
A native of Fannin County, Shannon has been a pivotal Fannin County Environmental Health team member for the past 17 years. In September 2022, Shannon was promoted to Fannin County Environmental Health Manager, where he has excelled in his responsibilities.
Before working in Fannin County, Shannon started his career as an Environmental Health Specialist in Cherokee County. He also took on environmental health roles in Gilmer and Pickens counties.
All along the way, Shannon proved his mettle.
During a challenging period from 2022 to 2023, Shannon served as the sole environmental health specialist in Fannin County. He demonstrated exceptional leadership skills by managing a high demand for septic permits and inspections, implementing new regulations, and navigating local ordinances with finesse.
"Shannon's collaborative approach with county and city partners, industry professionals, and the general public has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers in the North Georgia Health District," said Amy Grice, MPH, REHS, district Director of Environmental Health.
In addition to his hands-on work, Shannon has been a trailblazer in the district by incorporating cutting-edge technology into his daily field inspections, such as utilizing drones to enhance the quality of septic records. His innovative approach, which has not only improved efficiency but has also raised the bar for environmental health programs districtwide, is truly impressive.
Shannon's passion for his work is evident in his commitment to promoting environmental health in Fannin County and beyond. With a positive outlook and a friendly demeanor, Shannon is a valuable resource to his colleagues and a well-deserving recipient of the 2024 Environmental Health All-Star Award.
