Atlanta – The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) Drug Surveillance Unit has received increased reports of overdoses due to drugs mixed with fentanyl, particularly cocaine, methamphetamine, and counterfeit pills. Between early February and mid-March, at least 66 emergency department visits involved the use of cocaine, methamphetamine, crack, heroin, pain killers and cannabis products that were likely laced with fentanyl. Patients described extreme reactions to drugs – one patient reported taking a Percocet and went unresponsive – or patients were seen for a stimulant overdose but had a positive response to naloxone. Naloxone is administered to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses.

Fentanyl is a deadly substance that can be made illegally and found in all types of street drugs, not just opioids. It is important to know that it is possible to have an opioid overdose from a stimulant (e.g., cocaine) that is laced with fentanyl.

INTRODUCTION
 
Gilmer County Health Department (GCHD) is soliciting proposals for a vendor for lawn maintenance services for their location at:
 
28 Southside Church Street
Ellijay, GA 30540
 
GENERAL CONDITIONS
 
  1. Hours:
Lawn care maintenance shall be performed after health department hours of operation unless prior arrangements have been made with management. The health department hours of operation are as follows:
 
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Tuesday: 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Friday: 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
 
  1. Terms of Contract:
The initial contract term will be for one year from the date of award. The contract will be renewable on an annual basis for up to two (2) additional years. All subsequent renewal agreements shall incorporate all terms, conditions, and specifications contained in original agreement, unless mutually amended in writing.
 
  1. Insurance Coverage:
During the term of the contract, the Contractor at their sole cost and expense shall provide commercial insurance of such type and with such terms and limits as may be reasonable associated with the contract. This includes Workers’ Compensation, General Liability and Automobile.
 
SCOPE OF SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED
 
Routine lawn maintenance service will be provided every 2 weeks from April through October for a total of 14 visits per year. Any visits required more than the 14 per year may be billed at a pre-determined fee which must be included in the proposal. Vendor must provide the following services:
    1. Mow and trim all grass areas
    2. Pick up paper and debris from parking lot
    3. Blow all grass trimmings from parking lot/sidewalk.
    4. Edge all curbs/sidewalks.
    5. Put down fresh much and pull all dead flowers/weeds twice a year (April and October)
    6. Trim all shrubs around building one time per year.

Powdered Infant Formula Recall Expanded
Five Reports of Bacterial Infection in Infants
 
Atlanta – A recall of powdered infant formula is expanding to include a specialty formula for infants with certain dietary needs. Abbott Nutrition is now recalling one lot of Similac PM 60/40 in addition to select lots of Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare formulas manufactured in its Sturgis, Michigan, facility. The products are sold throughout the U.S. The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is urging parents and caregivers of infants to check their powdered infant formula before using it.
 
The recall for Similac PM 60/40 includes lot numbers 27032K80 on cans and 27032K800 on cases.
 
The previously recalled powdered infant formulas - Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare - can be identified by the 7-to-9-digit code and expiration date on the bottom of the package. Do not use these brands if they meet all 3 of the following conditions:
  • the first two digits of the code are 22 through 37 and
  • the code on the container contains K8, SH, or Z2, and
  • the expiration date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.

COVID-19 Daily Status Report Update
 
Atlanta – The COVID-19 Daily Status Report will reflect 4,253 “PCR positive tests” in the PCR/Molecular reported today and total test counts columns in the COVID-19 Testing table. The majority – more than 80% - are from January and early February 2022 and were previously reported as confirmed cases.
 
These positive test results came from a large lab in a batch report of sequencing results that attach to cases already in our confirmed case numbers. In addition to artificially inflating the number of PCR positive tests today, the PCR percent positive for today is 19.5%. When accounting for the previously reported test results, the PCR percent positive is consistent with the previous week’s percentages between 3.6% - 7.1%, as confirmed cases decrease statewide.
