WIC ALERT: Voluntary Recall of Certain WanaBana USA Products

WIC NEWS ALERT 11/9/23:

WanaBana 1On November 2, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a notice to advise parents and caregivers not to buy or feed certain WanaBana USA products to toddlers or young children, because the products may contain elevated levels of lead.  WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches, all lot codes and expiration dates, are affected. The company also initiated a voluntary recall of these products. These products are sold nationally and are available through multiple retailers, including Sam’s Club, Amazon, and Dollar Tree.

The North Georgia Health District is part of the Georgia Department of Public Health. This District is comprised of six counties including Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens, and Whitfield. Many programs and services exist throughout the district, all of which are designed to meet the needs of the people of North Georgia.

Our mission is to promote and protect the health of the people in the North Georgia Health District wherever they live, work and play, through population-based preventive programs including:

  Injury prevention
  Promotion and encouragement of healthy behaviors
  Responding to disasters and assisting communities to recover
  Assisting communities in assessing the quality and accessibility of health services.
