RECENT NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Whitfield County Health Department will provide influenza vaccine at both Wal-Mart Stores in Dalton beginning September 9 through October 4. (Please see the schedule below.) The two Wal-Mart Store locations in Dalton are 815 Shugart Road and 2545 East Walnut Avenue.

Influenza vaccine will be available at these Wal-Mart locations for anyone nine years old or older. The cost for regular seasonal influenza vaccine will be twenty-two dollars. The high-dose form of Fluzone influenza vaccine will be available to those who are ages 65 and older and will cost fifty dollars.

Payment may be made by cash or check, plus, the Whitfield County Health Department is an in-network insurance provider for: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, State of Georgia Health Benefit Plans (Cigna and United Healthcare), Medicaid, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage Plans.

The North Georgia Health District is part of the Georgia Department of Public Health. This District is comprised of six counties including Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens, and Whitfield. Many programs and services exist throughout the district, all of which are designed to meet the needs of the people of North Georgia.

Our vision for the North Georgia Health District is healthy people, families and communities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote and protect the health of the people in the North Georgia Health District wherever they live, work and play, through population-based preventive programs including:

  Prevention of epidemics and the spread of disease
  Protection against environmental hazards
  Injury prevention
  Promotion and encouragement of healthy behaviors
  Responding to disasters and assisting communities to recover
  Assisting communities in assessing the quality and accessibility of health services.
