Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens County Health Departments will open on a 2-HOUR DELAYED basis on Thursday, February 11th due to continued hazardous road conditions.

Alert Update: Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens County Health Departments will be CLOSED today, Wednesday, February 10th due to hazardous weather conditions.

The North Georgia Health District office in Dalton, GA and Public Health Departments in Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens and Whitfield Counties will Delay Opening by 2 Hours today, Wednesday, February 10th, due to hazardous weather conditions. This includes Environmental Health offices and WIC and Children's Public Health services. 

ALERT UPDATE 2: Pickens County Health Department in Jasper, GA will now CLOSE at 5 PM today, Tuesday, February 9th due to hazardous weather conditions.

Alert Update: Public Health Departments in Cherokee, Gilmer, Murray and Whitfield Counties will CLOSE early at 6 PM today, Tuesday, February 9th due to hazardous weather conditions. Fannin County Health Department will remain closed.

The North Georgia Health District is part of the Georgia Department of Public Health. This District is comprised of six counties including Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens, and Whitfield. Many programs and services exist throughout the district, all of which are designed to meet the needs of the people of North Georgia.

Our vision for the North Georgia Health District is healthy people, families and communities.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote and protect the health of the people in the North Georgia Health District wherever they live, work and play, through population-based preventive programs including:

  Prevention of epidemics and the spread of disease
  Protection against environmental hazards
  Injury prevention
  Promotion and encouragement of healthy behaviors
  Responding to disasters and assisting communities to recover
  Assisting communities in assessing the quality and accessibility of health services.
